About Plan to Explore

Your resource for easy travel planning tips!

Plan to Explore is a chance to offer others the tools to plan, budget, and research amazing vacations. If you think you don’t have time, or think you can’t afford to travel, I hope to provide the resources to help you see that you can.

Travel research and planning might not currently be your jam, but I hope this blog makes it a little more easy and fun. Or if it is your jam, we should be friends.

The longing and love to travel is always with me and I want to share that passion with you. Read on to learn a little bit more about me.

Mandy Budapest Castle

I am originally from outside of Cleveland, Ohio, a true midwesterner. Growing up our family vacations did not include far away travels, they were mostly places we could drive to. We visited places like the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan, Monticello and Williamsburg in Virginia, an occasional beach, and of course Disney World.

Our summer ritual and family tradition was to spend two weeks in Chautauqua Lake, New York. If you’ve never heard of it, it’s a peaceful 20 mile long lake at the extreme western edge of New York (basically Pennsylvania). My family has visited this lake every summer for three generations, and my parents now spend two months every summer there. (Living the retirement life!)

After graduating from Bowling Green State University and a short stay in Cincinnati, I moved to Austin, Texas. Looking back, I think this was my first big “adventure” and gave me a taste of what it was like to explore somewhere new. I met my Husband and after we got married and traveled to Italy for our Honeymoon, the travel bug had set in. We both work, have a young son, and Austin is a somewhat expensive place to live now.

Travel is something that we have had to save for and prioritize. I tell you this because that’s how I know you can do it too.

My travel list will be forever expanding, as it truly fills me with joy. I want to provide the tools to show you that it can be fun, easy and affordable!

I hope you want to plan to explore with me now!
